B.A. Sanskrit from Sri Sankara College, Kalady (1964), M.A. Sanskrit from the University of Madras (1966), and a Ph.D. from the University of Kerala (1975).
1968–2006Career
Professorship
Taught Sanskrit at Govt. Arts College Kumbakonam, Sree Krishna College Thrissur, and the University of Calicut, rising to Professor and later Emeritus Professor. Supervised eleven doctoral theses on subjects ranging from Kālidāsa and the Mahābhārata to Advaita Vedānta and Sanskrit literary criticism.
2006–2014Leadership
Adyar Library and Research Centre
Served as Honorary Professor and then Director of the Adyar Library and Research Centre, Chennai, and as Chief Editor of its journal, Brahmavidyā.
